(Update 17/02/09: Recently added news and information can be found here)

An occasion for catching up with old friends and meeting new relations; showing off the grandchildren and great-grandchildren; visiting the ancestral homes; exploring the farms as they are today … generally having a wonderful weekend with your extended family.
WHY 2009?
2009 is not an especially significant date, but with the recent passing of Edward's last living grandchild, and lots of rapidly aging great-grand-children, we thought we should do it as soon as possible.
WHO'S IN CHARGE?
We have a committee (of course): Susan Brown, Annie Elworthy (secretary), Christopher Elworthy (chairman), David Elworthy, Forbes Elworthy (treasurer), Sue Elworthy, Richard Elworthy, Ros Henry.
WHAT'S PLANNED?
Friday evening: Registration, cocktails in the marquee.
Saturday: Assemble at the big house at 10am for group photos. The rest of the day will be a grand family picnic in the grounds of Holme Station. There will be food and refreshments for sale, or bring your own picnic. A chance to catch up with all the family and for the children to have a great time together. There will be an opportunity for smaller family groups to get together, visit the other stations etc, and a chance for city and overseas visitors to watch some dog trialling, sheep shearing etc.
Saturday evening: Dinner and dancing in the marquee. Dress to suit the occasion.
Sunday: A morning church service at St Mary's in Timaru. While you are in town you might take the opportunity to visit the Timaru Museum to look at the display of Elworthy memorabilia they are mounting for us. Another picnic will be held at Holme Station, with more fun for the kids and a gentle winding down.
THEY ARE COMING FROM FAR AND WIDE!
We have had a number of registrations from overseas Elworthys and look forward to many more. Visiting New Zealand will never be cheaper now that the dollar has plunged in value! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
BOOK EARLY!
If you are looking for accommodation in Timaru we urge you to get on to it as soon as possible. Information can be found about what is available here. If you need any help see the Timaru Information Centre’s website at www.southisland.org.nz, or contact them by email at timaruinfo@southisland.org.nz.
